Touching History
This large and important private collection of 2000 year-old antiquities, excavated in the Holy Land, includes artifacts that were used by contemporaries of Jesus — people who lived with Jesus, witnessed His miracles, and heard Him teach.

The objects selected for the exhibition bring to life all aspects of living in the Holy Land (Israel) in the first century AD. These ancient artifacts offer a rare opportunity to experience the lifestyle of Jesus and the culture of the life in the Galilee, as never before possible.

The collection includes antiquities from the first century BC through the first century AD. These artifacts were discovered in and around the sites where Jesus and His disciples lived and ministered, especially in the Galilee region, which includes: The Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Bethsaida, Magdala, Nazareth, Cana, Zippori, Wadi Hamam, Caesarea-Philippi, Gamla, Beit Shean, and Tel Anafa. Other artifacts in the exhibition were found in: Jerusalem, Caesarea, Sebastia, Jaffa, Bethlehem, Jericho, Qumran, Ein Gedi and Masada — as well as Pella and Machaerus in Jordan.

The artifacts were selected based on a comprehensive archaeological survey of the items in the most important museums, research institutions, and collections all over the world. Many of the items in this exhibition are on loan from The Golan Collection, the largest and most important privately-owned collection of biblical archeology in Israel.
